This Sunday is the slipway appeal day. As you can see from the banner advert above it is £15 to get a pitch for the day, all this goes directly towards funding the slipway which is extremly important to the club. Even if you only have one item to sell, get in the spirit of the day and hire a pitch. It would be great to see the Dinghy park stuffed to the rafters with would be salespeople. Make it a fun day, and check out what your sailing pals are trying to flog!

Please come along to the working party this Saturday 4th April. The main tasks are to clear out and tidy the Dinghy Park. Then clean the concrete outfall near the slipway, as this will be used for picking up safety boat crews etc when we have no slipway.

I have sailed a Hornet at Thorpe Bay for the last 7 years. I am looking for a new regular crew for week-end club racing, Saturdays and/or Sundays. If you would like to join me for a bit of trapeze and spinnaker work in this fast monohull racing boat please contact me on 07946 413923 or email grahamdare@ blueyonder.co.uk.
Alternatively – if there are no offers to crew with me I may be looking to crew for someone on a regular basis – any boat and any offers considered.

Please note that I have cancelled the 27th March supper. The Sandhopper Launching dinner is on 21st March, Mothers Day Sunday Lunch is on 22nd March and the Cruisers Launching supper on 4th April.and in these hard pressed financial times members can only afford so much on eating out! My apologies to those who were intending to go to the supper on 27th March.

NEW RACING RULES A MYSTERY?
UNSURE WHAT SAFETY BOAT DUTY ENTAILS?
RACE OFFICER SKILLS RUSTY?
NEED TIPS ON RACE TACTICS?
If you answered “yes” to one (or, heaven forbid, all) the above, clear Friday March 20th in your diary and come to TBYC that evening. Here will be assembled five of the club’s great and good, having given up their time (with the promise of a drink in Spratty’s case) to help you get the most from race days.
The evening starts at 19:00 when food is dished up – chicken, sausage or scampi with chips – then should go as follows:
20:00 – Alan Willis and Phil Crawford run through the Race Officer’s duties
20:45 – Paul Spratt will outline the safety boat routine
21:00 – Chris Boshier explains the new racing rules
21:30 – Ken Herve gives hints & tips about race starts and tactics
Wow! How lucky are we to have these menagerie come along and share their experience with us? This is not intended to be a formal night, questions will be encouraged (though hecklers will be given working party chores) and hopefully a relaxed yet educational time will be had by all.
Purchase your ticket in advance from Chris Maloney – £5.00 each, which includes the food. Ring 07896 676148 now or miss the boat

Some of you may have noticed the committee boat looks like a warship at the moment! If the weather allows, it would be nice to see you there to help make it red again. Also there is more to do on the race box. So come on down and make it a fun event. Starting Saturday morning at 9.00 ish.
Cheers, Chris
