Summer Ball Outstanding Success

Published by under Club Notices,Social

I would like to give a huge thank you and well done to all those involved in the organisation of the Summer Ball 2012.

Those include, the team that set out the awning, tables, settings and flowers etc. A huge thank you to Mick Kilkelly who served the most wonderful food in a timely and professional manner. A great many thanks to Stephanie Bradley who took on the task of the overall orgaisation of the event – which was a total success.

To the members who attended last night I salute your generosity and party spirit – we raised a stunning £ 730 towards the club’s new olympic rib – whilst dancing the night into the early hours of today.

A great event well organised and well enjoyed by TBYC members – Well Done All

Cadet Success on the Crouch

Published by under Cadets

Great result for the TBYC Cadet boats at the recent Cadet Class Association world team selector event at the Royal Corinthian, Burnham. Matthew Lloyd/Katy Lloyd were 3rd place in Silver Fleet, 20th overall. Alex Warrington/Laura Lloyd (Gold Fleet) came 10th overall. A total of 69 boats entered the competition. Conditions were challenging with a 20kt easterly wind and an ebbing tide for almost the whole time on the water on day one; wind against tide resulted in some big waves for the Crouch. With two world team selector events comprising a total of 12 races now complete Alex & Laura are 15th overall with the top ten boats being selected to represent the UK Class Association in the world championships in Hobart at Christmas. The remaining ten races for the selector series will take place at the Nationals in Torquay in August. We’re busy saving for Australia.

T.O.P’s Spring Series 2012

Published by under Cadets,Monohulls,Racing

Dear all,

Following a review of the first few races of the Spring series, which resulted in races 1,2,3 & 4 being rerun on Sunday 27 May after the racing was postponed on the Saturday. The committee feel that some competitors may not have received sufficient notice of the changes.

We have therefore taken the decision that the Spring series will only count as being races 5&6 to be run on Saturday 9th June as indicated in the racing programme.

Some great racing took place on Sunday so this is therefore being treated as a miniseries and prizes are to be given to the top three boats which sailed in all four races.

Fun was had by all with plenty of practice starts in glorious sunshine. The top three boats of that miniseries were;

1.    Sophie Boygle and Genevieve Bailey
2.    Harry Boygle and Olivia Petty-Mayor
3.    Amy Chapman

Well done to all who took part.

In future if a days racing has to be postponed then we will take the decision at the time whether to rerun the races on another day. Any decision made will be clearly given and notified on the club notice board, website and via e-mail.

Let’s hope this weather stays with us and continues for the Summer series.

Johnno
