Crew required for a very nice wooden Merlin Rocket No experience necessary. We can work things out as we go along. Ideal weight 60-90 kg. The boat has a symmetrical spinnaker on twin poles which launch very easily. There is plenty for the crew to do and the Merlin is a great sea boat.
I live in Hertfordshire but want to sail at TBYC as often as possible right through the summer and autumn. Very keen to do the mid week evening races as well. Let me know if you are interested. Call Michael 07867 802062

This is a note to remind members of the meeting this evening Monday 22nd April regarding the sea defences project. At the meeting the council will be presenting a number of schemes and a proposal from the floor will also be discussed.
It is important members attend the meeting to fully understand the implications of the various schemes upon the Yacht Club and the wider community.
The meeting is to be held in the Wendy Owen Hall – which is accessed through Caulfield Road (not the Sports hall as previously thought)At the Shoebury High School.
The meeting will start at 7.30 and Parking is reported to be a little tight so an early arrival is suggested.
Sincerely

Morning everyone,
If you look out across the estuary you will see that we are pretty much back to normal. Last weekend under the careful eye of Toby Speller the Guard boats were lifted in and back in action patrolling the race course. Thanks also go to Gordon Saunders who serviced to engines for us through rain, snow and freezing conditions.
Yesterday Paul Morgan, Mike and Will Thomason spent the afternoon in SS3 laying the 15 race marks. All marks have been fitted with new chain and shackles which should see them showing us the way round for another couple of years. If you want to know your way round, new stick on course cards are available from the club bar, or you could follow Rupert who is putting his on his transom for Barry to follow.
Those of you lucky enough to have been gazing at the end of the pier around 5 o’clock yesterday evening would have seen the return of SS4 from Dauntless Boat Yard. She too has had an engine service, new lifting Ram fitted to the engine leg, halyards and an electric windlass fitted to help raise and lower the anchor, hopefully enabling her to be moved more throughout the racing season. Although the conditions have not been kind to us this winter, a great team of helpers all put in the hours to deliver, maintain and prepare the committee boat to run our racing for another year. Thanks go to Toby Speller, Tony Clarke, Peter and Ivor Thompson, Barry and Mick Duce and Chris Maloney.
If you would like the current Lat and Long of the Racing Marks (as they was orginally dropped as they may move slightly), please use the Google Earth file from links below:

Due to work and family commitments, I have decided to step down as Social Secretary with immediate effect.
Following on from the success of events over the past 18 months, we have a great schedule planned for the remainder of 2013, and I would like to hand over to my successor as soon as possible.
If you enjoy attending events at the club, have a few hours to spare each week and have good organisational skills, this is the job for you!
If you’re interested in this position, please contact Nick Elmore on 07702 299555 or email [email protected] as soon as possible.
Thanks to everyone for your support.
Regards,
Stephanie

Missed the meeting on Sunday 14th April, more helpers still required, talk to Nick or Martin for more information or pass your name directly to [email protected] . We need you for our biggest ever event.
****** Online Entry forms now available from http://www.rsfeva.org.uk/?page_id=400 ******
This year the club is to hold the Feva Nationals on the end of May Bank Holiday. This event will likely attract 100 plus boats of a national junior class. We would love to see some of our cadets take part in this event and if anyone is interested in helming or crewing to please contact me directly.
My plea today is for helpers for this event. Like cadet week we will have a large number of children and adults at the club. A number of people have come forward already but we would welcome some more to carry this event off as a success.
This will probably be the largest junior open event the club has ever seen. Your help will be very much appreciated.

As some of you know after two very tricky and stressful pregnancies, and following the recent birth of our daughter, on 8th February 2013 I found a lump in my breast. I knew straight away that it was a tumour and Southend Hospital confirmed our fears. In fact, I have 2 tumours and a cancerous lymph node.
Southend Hospital Breast Unit strive to be the best in the country and offer such fantastic care, both medical and emotional, along with their counterparts in oncology and radiotherapy. I am grateful to be in good hands and they tell me they can treat my cancer successfully.
Anyone who knows me well will know that I am not one to sit back, wallow in it, and let the world pass me by in a haze of depression. I am determined to make this a positive experience and really feel that I am meant to make a difference for other people. Let’s be honest, without other people raising money and being equally determined, this disease would be neither treatable nor beatable.
As my hair-loss with the treatment seems inevitable, I have decided to have it shaved before it falls in an attempt to raise some much needed funds for the Southend Hospital Bosom Pals Appeal through sponsorship.
Please help me make that difference, I can’t do it on my own. In return, I promise to concentrate on getting better at the same time as raising some much needed cash for ground-breaking equipment.
We can all do our bit to help, please donate, One day, it might be your Mum, Sister, Daughter who needs that vital equipment and I would love to be able to say we helped.
Thank you Sara XXX
