Please be aware that we are undertaking works on all three of the safety boats (SS2, SS3 & Polly) currently and for safety reasons they are not to be boarded unless you are working on them. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Thank you

We have assurances from the Council and Anglian Water that the sewerage discharge into the Thames stopped a few days ago. Whilst residue can still be seen, this will take some months of tide movements and beach cleaning to eradicate.
With this in mind I am pleased to say that Club Racing will resume this weekend.
Please be aware of you surroundings if launching from the beach and we would recommend that cadets capsize practice not to happen – far too cold now anyway.
I would also recommend that our cold water swimming fraternity stay in the swimming pools for the time being.

Having looked at the advice from the Environmental Services and Anglian Water, the sewerage issue is no better. With advice not to enter the water and stay off some beaches, we feel it would be irresponsible to put our volunteers and sailors in harms way.
We have therefore decided to cancel racing for this weekend. I’m really sorry and hope that the situation is sorted very quickly. We’ve lost enough sailing recently as it is.
We will not be closing the slipway and if you wish to sail you may. Please be aware that cub ribs are not to be used so no safety cover will be available.

Thank you to Tolga Kulahcigil and Steve Margerison for volunteering today to help move the old masts off the mast rack ready for the Sandhopper lift out and for when the new mast rack is built.
If you had a mast on the rack that can be disposed can you please arrange for this ASAP or mark it up for disposal and we will arrange for this.
If you have mast that is to be used for a boat and it should be on the the rack please place it on the new rack once it is in place.
All masts that are left in the temporary space as per the photo once the new rack is in place will be disposed of as we will assume that they are no longer required.
This message will also be emailed to all members and posted on the TBYC website.
Thank you

TBYC Club flag has been lowered today as a mark of respect for Sir David Amess who died earlier today. Although not a club member this is very unusual circumstances and Sir David Amess was one of our local MPs and had been for nearly 40 years. He was a prominent member of our local community known by many at the club and his passing in such tragic circumstances is so sad for all. TBYC wishes to pass on our condolences to Sir David’s family and friends.

For those who are removing your boats for the winter, please ensure this is done by the end of this week – not at the weekend.
If you have paid for Winter Sailing or Storage, please make sure that you’re sticker is now on the transom of your boat.
We will be moving dinghies to make room and if it is unclear what you are booked for, you may not be able to access your boat.
