Hi Andras, is the open to cadets? If so, would my son be able to borrow a Pico? Thanks
Hi Justine,
Pico Racing is open to all members, including all cadets and even to grown ups. All combinations are allowed as helm and crew, but adult helms do not qualify for the cadet trophies. It is called Pico Racing, as the Pico fleet is our largest fleet, but it is not exclusive, can be sailed with any sensible boat: Optimist, RS Tera, RS Feva, Open BIC, Topper, Laser 4.7, Cadet – just as a few examples. (Fast catamarans are not encouraged to join in).
This is an opportunity to go afloat when there are many others on the water. There is a race, but racing is not compulsory. If you wish to cruise / sail for fun, please, try not to get in the way of those who race.
Club Picos are primarily for sail training. If sail training is not on, they can be used on first come first served basis, there is a sheet at the racks providing key information. They have to be looked after, I suggest they are hosed down after use and put under the racks in a tidy manner. Problems, damage, faults should be reported ASAP to us (Nick Cotgrove is leading sail training and looks after the Picos).
Kind regards: Andras
