Summer Ball 2014 – Dress Code

Published by under Bar,Catering,Social

Following a couple of enquiries, I would like to confirm that the dress code is ‘smart’ rather than strictly ‘black tie’.  Lounge suits/blazers may be worn if preferred.

If you haven’t already purchased tickets and would like some, there are a few left.  Please let me know if you’re interested, if possible by Wednesday 11th June.

Summer Ball 2014 – Saturday 14th June

Published by under Bar,Catering,Social

It’s that time again!  The annual Summer Ball has been arranged and tickets are now on sale – on your marks, get set, go!!

I am delighted to announce that this year’s entertainment will be a slightly different arrangement.  We will start with Michael Buble, continue onto the Other Guys (Franki Valli & The Four Seasons tribute), and then conclude with a very good DJ who will play tunes to keep you dancing until the wee small hours.

To have a sneaky peak at our main entertainers, please go to the following link on YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmdcQcvwWXc

As far as the menu, there is one option for each course (so no complicated menu choices!), unless someone in your party has a dietary requirement in which case you can indicate this on the ticket order form and a suitable alternative will be arranged.

Please see the attached poster for full details of menu and timings Summer Ball 2014 poster

Tickets can be purchased via the attached order form Summer Ball Order Form 2014, payment can be made in the usual way (cash or cheque in envelope with form, bank transfer with note to the Club Secretary, or card payment at the bar and receipt attached to form).  Please put your form into the club postbox marked for the attention of ‘Sara Speller – Summer Ball’.

Forms will be date stamped and tickets issued strictly in order of ‘first come first served’.  Please note that tickets cannot be reserved and will only be issued once payment is received.

Tickets are open to members only until one week before (7th June), at which time should some tickets still be available you will be welcome to purchase them for non-member friends.

Any queries, please contact Sara Speller on 07799 892732.

Balcony Decking and Balustrade Upgrade

Published by under Bar,Club Notices

As part of the Club House refurbishment plan, the upgrade to our balcony decking and balustrade rails will commence on Wednesday 7th May 2014.

Depending on weather conditions, the main balcony will be out of action for up to 3 weeks during the refurbishment.

At the end of this refurbishment, we will have a sound watertight structure with modern child safe railings to provide good service for at least the next 35 years.

There will be no disruption to the daily activities within the club house.

Your co operation and understanding is appreciated whilst the building works are ongoing.

Winter and Icicle Series Prize giving, Sunday 16th March

After more challenging and exciting conditions today, tomorrow morning sees the conclusion of the Icicle Series and Winter sailing at TBYC.  This year for the first time sailors have been racing in a General Handicap fleet for an overall series trophy, with four individual classes running in Tandem.

The Winter and Icicle Series have been well supported this year, with 63 boats racing before Christmas and 52 in this year’s Icicle Series. The one course and mass start have been popular with sailors and have made for an exciting series between all classes in a wide range of testing conditions.

The Winter and Icicle Series Prize giving will be held in the main bar at around 14.30 tomorrow, Sunday.  So come down, enjoy the carvery and support all TBYC and visiting sailors who have raced this winter.
