Work party

Published by under Bilge

Thanks to David, Toby, Steve, nick, Paul, Rupert, chaz, Peter and Len from the sandhopper fleet for fitting the new fenders to the slipway which I’m sure will be appreciated by all..
Also thank you to sam husk who was scrubbing the slipway from very early till late with the aid of a small team who very kindly turned up to help. If you missed the opportunity to help you could always buy sam a beer next time you see her in the club.

SATURDAY MORNING WORK PARTY

Published by under Bilge

Calling all Members

I would really appreciate your help cleaning the slipway this saturday morning(17th July) start time is 9.30am.
The more helpers the quicker it can get finished well before sailing at 3.00 and the less my back will hurt if i’m the only one 😉

We’ve hired a pressure washer and will have some scrappers and brushes but if you have a broom/brush please do bring it with you.

Please do come if your free and able, i know its hard work but the more of us there the easier it will be.
A BIG BIG THANK YOU in advance for all of you that come and help.

Cross Channel Row

Published by under Bilge

As some of you will be aware, I am part of a team intending to row across the English Channel in the next few days when the weather settles down (now 90% sure for Sunday). If conditions are right, we are also hoping to beat the current record of 2 hours 40 minutes. Why? You might well ask!

It’s all for charity: The AHOY Centre, which is based in east London, provides water based activities for young and disabled people in one of Britain’s most deprived areas. In particular it does a lot of work with young offenders and those who are not in education, giving them some structure to their lives, often for the first time, regularly leading to RYA qualifications and similar.

For more details see www.ahoy.org.uk.

Anyone wishing to sponsor us is very welcome to do so and the JustGiving site is: www.justgiving.com/xchannelrowing.

Thanks for your support
