I encourage Cadets to join in with this Regatta. Cadets will need to be able to complete the race unaided, but with a square course and a single Start, this series of races are within the capabilities of most Cadets who have been training this year. It would be good to sail all three days, but if you can only do one or two, that is fine.
Start times for Cadet Regatta are:
Saturday 28th August 14.00
Sunday 29th August 14.30
Monday 30th August 15.30
Briefing 13.15 on Saturday by the Sail Training Room
REGISTRATION 12.30 on Saturday in the Sail Training Room. (If joining on Sunday, registration is at 13.30, Monday at 14.30)
Please complete the Registration and Consent form by printing it out, filling it in and taking it to ‘Registration’ in the Sail Training Room, as above. Extras will be available on the day. Parent-Guardian_Consent_Form 2021
There will be a Karaoke evening on Saturday in the main bar!
The Wally Cup is rescheduled to be sailed on Sunday as part of the Regatta.
Remember to SIGN ON before you leave the beach and off when you return. These Declaration sheets will be in the Bosun’s Hut.

We are meeting on the beach for a 5 minute briefing and plan to sail off at 11:00 for race training, as planned, no change. Many of our sailors are off, this could be a smaller group tomorrow. Piranhas are welcome to join in. Short course, lots of interaction and fun, talk to me or to our regular sailors / parents if you are new to this. See you: Andras

Last Sunday Thorpe Bay YC Cadets had a memorable training session: first time ever we ran two groups. Sailors did some warm up drills all together. The younger generation could admire and copy the skills of our advanced sailors. Then the top group sailed away with Nick to work on their sail settings and close manoeuvring. Our younger sailors stayed with Andras: they developed their upwind speed, practiced boat control and timed starts out of a cage (a small square area marked with 4 buoys) to the upwind mark. Session was closed with an adapted cat and mouse game. Thank you to all involved, all supporters and well-wishers.
For years we wanted to run two groups and now we got there. This would not have been possible without each and every one of you supporting our youth sailing. New chapter is starting in our history. Our reward is obvious: just look at and talk to our sailors. We are so proud of our team. – Nick and Andras
