CADET’S ‘Rebellious Bowl Regatta’ and ‘Inshore’ Regatta’

Published by under Cadets,Racing

The two Regattas are both 3-day events; this Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  They will cover all abilities and can be sailed in any boat including Optimist’s, Pico’s, Lasers, Toppers and RS Tera’s and RS Feva’s. We would like to see as many as possible sail these special events. We have two options:

Those who can sail a Beat, Reach and Run are encouraged to enter the ‘Rebellious Bowl’ Regatta, starting from the Committee boat. There will be two Races each day with a separate Cadet start. Each race will be 40 minutes using large inflatable buoys. Nick Alston will be organising and supporting the Cadet sailors.

For those Cadets who prefer, there will be an ‘Inshore’ Regatta with a trapezoid course with support for the younger, less experienced and less confident sailors. There will be five short, one lap races each day, which should give everyone an action-packed experience and a chance to develop their sailing skills in a fun and safe environment. The only requirement is a willingness to sail; either single handed or with a crew. This sailing activity is organised by Andras Gal. Parental help would be appreciated.

It is hoped that the Cadets will be able to sail all three days and all the races, however less is fine.  There will be a Briefing/training session on Friday evening for ‘Rebellious Bowl’ Cadets and a separate session on Sailing skills for ‘Inshore’ Cadets.  See below:

Rebellions Bowl Regatta Programme

Friday 19.30 Briefing to cover sailing rules, starting procedure and course.

Saturday 9.39 start (on the water by 9.09).    Two races.

Sunday 10.09 start (on the water by 9.39).     Two races.

Monday 10.39 start (on the water by 10.09). Two races. Prize giving in the Club House ASAP after races.

Inshore Regatta

Friday 19.00 Briefing to cover sailing skills and rules, starts and course.

Saturday 9.30 start Five mini races.

Sunday 10.00 start Five mini races.

Monday 10.30 start Five mini races. Prize giving in the Club House ASAP after races.

It would be helpful to E-Mail either Nick Alston [email protected] or Andras Gal [email protected] your intentions to sail including the days. This is not essential but would be helpful.  We welcome as much racing as possible.
