Success
for all 9 TBYC Cadets at the Matt Dear Race hosted by Thames Estuary Yacht Club. Congratulations go to Holly for 1st place, John for 2nd place and Monty for 3rd place.
All the Cadets sailed well in varied conditions from a choppy sea and high winds to a drop in wind and a strong out-going tide at the end of the race. Well done to all.
This prodigious Race is in memory of Matthew Dear who tragically lost his life after taking Anabolic steroids, is to raise the awareness of the dangers to young people.

We have supported the Matt Dear Race for Cadets at Thames Estury Yacht Club for several years. It is one of our ‘away’ events that all Cadets who can confidently sail a course can enjoy.
This prodigious Race is in memory of Matthew Dear who tragically lost his life after taking Anabolic steroids, is to raise the awareness of the dangers to young people.
It attracts Cadets from all our local clubs and is well organised with trophies donated by the ‘Dear’ family. There is no entrance fee.
We will hold a meeting on Thursday 15 June at 7.30pm to collect Entry forms and consider/organise transport of boats. I will also brief the Cadets for 30 minutes after speaking to parents.
The Entry form is here
Matt Dear Entry Form 23. Please print it out and give it to me on Thursday.
If you can’t make the meeting, please send the form directly to me. I will then register you.
Programme:
Saturday 17th June:
Transport boats by road to TEYC (There may be support for those sailing to TEYC for experienced sailors and faster boats – TBA)
10.00 Matt Dear Briefing at TEYC
12.00 Race Start (Race lasts approximately one hour)
ACTION REQUIRED
They have asked for numbers in advanced. It would very useful if you filled in this very short reply form ASAP to let me know if you are attending
Let’s have a great attendance this year.
