Due to circumstances beyond the club’s control we have had to cancel this event.
Sorry for any disappointment this may cause.
Instead we will run an August Bank Holiday Mini series over the three days on a similar format as the normal Pico series so we can all spend plenty of race time on the water having loads of fun as always.
Now what we do need is a sponsor, so if anyone has any suggestions as to offering a cup of some sort then do please let Mike Thomason know and we can make this an annual event.
Laser Centre have been asked to let us know about some special deals on race sails, kickers and toestraps and details to follow once received.
Wanted helm & crew for displacement boats this Saturday, if you are able to assist please respond to this post or text or email me (details as per the programme).
Thanks.
Now covered by Rex Hanson & Colin Goodman – Thank you.

Well done to the magnificent seven who braved the howling winds at Seasalter last week, we had 18 – 38 mph winds on the first day, offshore with flat water, cat course, absolutely adrenalin fuelled thumping fun.
Especially well done to Martin Ellis for his 3rd place overall, to Howard Hawkes for his 3rd place on race 1 and also to Gary Burrows and Keith Persin for 6th and 7th on race 3 ( top end of F7).
All in all a great show by the Thorpe Bay Sprinters – well done to all!
Please note it is the Sailing Committee’s intention to run the Shoreline Tropy Race that was postponed last weekend due to unsuitable weather conditions on Saturday 30th July 2011 – Mass Start at 11:00am.
It is planned if weather conditions permit to sail Summer Sat 6 that the rescheduled Shoreline race replaces immediately after Summer Sat 8 on Sat 13th August.
The sunsail race series is on again and TBYC had six boats enter last year, made up of teams of friends from various fleets.
The sandhopper team that won the event last year have entered for this year which is over the weekend of 24/25 September, racing is held in the solent and the 40′ boats are brand new they take 12 persons you also sleep on them overnight, cost is £1180 per boat so £100 per person for a weekends sailing and accommodation! bargain.
Get your team together and get entered, contact [email protected] and mention TBYC and Martin Binnendijk to get the discount.
It has been decided due to Cadet members taking part in the AYC Matt Trophy & the uncertain forecast that the beach BBQ due to be held Sat 16th July will be postponed.
A brief outline the Shoreline race, starting from the TBYC Committee Boat off the Halfway public house at 12:00, following the shore passing inflatable buoys along the shore adjacent to TBYC, the Halfway House, pier to starboard, Alex YC, TEYC, Essex & finishing off the LSC.
We then plan to sail along in the LSC centenary sail past of their club at approx 13:45.
And there’s more…… Once the sail past is completed, we plan to hold a Leigh Centenary Race back to the TBYC. Course to be displayed on the committee boat, now stationed off Leigh.
Entry forms for visitors only will be available behind the bar at the TBYC or in the bosuns hut on the seafront or TBYC 2011 Shoreline Race Entry Form.
Another great weekend afloat – Well done to TBYC’s F18 Sailors David White & Matt Rainbow winning the BYC Nore Race Multihull Dinghy class & Ronnie Barnes in his Musto Skiff taking the honours in the Monohull Dinghies. It certainly looked very exciting & we have some fantastic footage of the F18 downwind for the time the Rib could keep up with you.
On Sunday for the Club Mulberry BBQ we were blessed with great weather which by midday had turned into sunfilled clear blue skies & allowing great watersports conditions with lots of smiles.
Great to see so many families taking part in a variety of craft & members making the walk out to join in the fun at low tide. Well done to the two Alex’s for demonstrating their unplanned swimming skills!
