— Summer Opening Hours & Private Events Notice —

With it now being the start of the school summer holidays I’m pleased to say that the Clubhouses hours have been extended to all day on a Wednesday & Thursday.
All Clubhouse and Kitchen opening hours can be seen below.
Monday
The club is closed all day, except for Bank Holidays, which are Sunday hours.
Tuesday
Bar: Closed
Kitchen: Closed
Wednesday
Bar: 11:00 – 23:00
Kitchen: 11.30 – 14.30 & 18:00 – 20:00
Thursday
Bar: 11:00 – 23:00
Kitchen: 11:30 – 14:30
Friday
Bar: 11:00 – 23:00
Kitchen: 11:30 – 14:30 & 17:30 – 20:00
Saturday
Bar: 11:00 – 23:00
Kitchen: 11:00 – 15:00
Sunday
Bar: 11:00 – 21:00
Kitchen: 11:00 – 14:30
Kitchen opening times will be extended during the sailing season to encompass sailing times. If there’s any questions then please speak to Chef James.
If the Bar is empty 1 hour before closing then it will close early. If you plan on coming into the club during the last hour phone ahead and the bar will stay open.

This is a notice to members that some parts of the clubhouse mainly the main bar are due to be hired out on the dates below, on all occasions there will still be either the main bar or commodores bar (dependent on what’s been hired out) available for members to use.
*All dates and times are subject to change for the latest updates then please give us a call.

Cadet Mini Race Series

On this Sunday 7th August we have the CADET ‘MINI RACE’ SERIES.

This is open to all Cadets who can sail a Trapezoid course (Beat, Reach and Run). There will be up to four short races with support as needed.
18.15 Briefing on Sea wall. (Please be changed and rigged).
18.30 Leave Beach

Rib Helms and Crews required for 13th and 14th August.

** Update** Duties now filled, thank you. If you would like to view the racing from the committee boat please let me know.

Can anyone help Helm and Crew on the 13th and 14th of August for the Sandhopper Nationals? If so if you could let me know and if possible update Dutyman it would be appreciated, no experience required for Crew! Thank you.

3rd RS Aero Youth Championships 2022- Sam Blaker

A huge congratulations to Sam Blaker for his 3rd place result. This was out of an entry of 53 boats in a very competitive field representing many different countries at the RS Aero Youth Championships held at Weymouth Academy concluding yesterday. Very well done.

Sandhopper T Shirts are available, delivery to your door. You can change the wording to the name of your boat and the T Shirt to a Hoodie or another T shirt, Just add to the basket and edit. Don’t forget to delete the orginal one though as you will be charged for that as well. Delivery within 48hrs!

Endeavour Trophy – Sat 30th – Come and watch!

We have 8 boats competing this year. You will see some of the closest racing ever… Watch from the balcony or come out on the water. There’s plenty of room on the Committee Boat.

Help! Saturday Race officers needed

Julian and I are Race officer and Assistant RO this Saturday, however can’t be here to run the racing and need so ask someone to step in please.
Sat 16th @ 13.30 Shorebox start.

Update: Thank you Phil Crawford for volunteering as RO – WE DO STILL NEED AN ASSISTANT PLEASE… No experience necessary, just write sail numbers and times..!

TBYC Tera Open

RS Tera Open TBYC NOR

To all sailors entering the Tera open on Saturday I will be doing a short ‘pre briefing’ on Friday evening @ 19:30 in the sail training room (or outside if it is warm!). This will be focused around sailors for whom this will be their first ‘open’ meeting and will cover the start sequence (Start order, Flags and some starting tips!) a few basic rule pointers and some guidance on the course to be sailed. We would like to encourage all levels to enter for the racing on Saturday.

Cadet Race Training and 3 Races

This Sunday 3rd July

Briefing at 13.45 (changed and rigged, meet on the sea wall). Leaving the beach at 14.00.

This activity is aimed at the more experienced Cadet Sailors to develop their Racing skills. Sessions include exercises to improve boat handling, sailing a set course, starting and finishes with a series of short races.

CADETS ARE TO COMPLETE THE FULL SESSION, coming back during a session is not an option due to safety reasons. Parents are encouraged to help with preparation, recovery and on-the-water.
