It is with regret and deep sadness that I have to announce that Jack Campling passed away today at Fair Havens Hospice. Jack was previously an active member of our cruising section having sailed extensively on “Pendragon” with family and friends.

Changes to Deep Water Shipping Channel Buoyage (SeaReach 1-7)

Published by under Club Notices,Cruising

Currently the shipping lane has centre lane buoys called SEA REACH 1 to SEA REACH 7 which are Pillar type Bouys. These are being replaced by port and starboard buoys either side of the deep Channel. This work is taking place on several dates over August.

This will affect anybody cruising the Thames Estuary, however those West Shoebury and East Leigh channel marker used by us for racing currently look unaffected.

More details on the work is available at New Yantlet Channel Bouys

Quiz Night this Tuesday 12th – all welcome, no booking needed

The Cruising Section is hosting a Quiz in the bar this Tuesday 12th March, and ALL MEMBERS are welcome.

It would be great if some of the other sailing sections got together a team – usually 4 – 6; we’d love to see more of you Sandhoppers, Fevas, Picos, Cats, Finns, Lasets, Sprints etc.

But you don’t need a team – just come by yourself and we’ll find you (and you’ll find us) convivial company!

There is no need to book; entry is £2 head which pays for the prizes.  (No food provided so eat first.)

Our quizzes are always challenging, interesting and fun and an enjoyable, healthily competitive evening is had by all.

(Sorry for the short notice…  see Cruising Sailing Dates  for forthcoming events. )

cheers

Bill (for Derek, Rear-Commodore Cruising)
