Our TBYC RS Feva Team Racing squad, performed well at the Midland’s British Schools Championships at the Oxford Sailing Club on Saturday. It was our first Team Racing event and the opposition of 12 teams were experienced and strong. However, all three of our teams won their first race with much excitement and expectation. They were keen to put into practice the tactics learnt during the recent Cadet nights and protests were being issued and penalties taken frequently as the teams battled during the next seven races. They all performed well and we are certainly proud of them, but when it was announced that one of our teams had qualified for the finals, the pressure was really on. They won their first race, performing an impressive Mark Stop at the finish line and eventually achieved a most creditable fourth place. May I thank the parents for taking the youngsters to Oxford and of course, congratulations to all the squad.

Our 7th RS Feva training / discussion session will take place this Thursday at 8.00pm upstairs.
We will base our session on the preparation for our Team Racing Championships on the 5th October,(which still has benefits for fleet racing) The Run and the Finish.
I am arranging ‘on water training’ for this Saturday which will be the last before the event. There is no club racing on Saturday, although I think there is enough light and tide for us to be on the beach ready to go at 4.30pm and have time for a worthwhile training session.

For Sale; RS Feva XL 627
Opportunity to buy an ex squad boat with a good racing record. One owner from new, not your average cadet beach toy. Has been an out-and-out racer from new and maintained accordingly.
Fast and fully race prepared; tapered sheets, Ronstan mainsheet ratchet block, auto ratchet spinnaker blocks and kicker, Harken and Ronstan throughout the rest of the boat with various aspects revised and improved over standard.
Very good foils, modern snug-fitting centerboard case fitted, wing nut on rudder stock modified for exceptionally easy tightening, carbon tiller extension. Minor chip to rear of rudder blade (pictured) easily fixed in an afternoon.
Weighed to settle an argument between friends a few years back; boat was around 20kgs lighter than number 2000 all up and they’ve only been built heavier since. Despite the age and low weight, the hull remains solid and is in very good condition with only a very minor dent to the hull, courtesy of an Irish kid who didn’t understand start lines. (pictured, way above waterline so no effect on performance) More watertight than most boats RS have made, too!
