Alan Burrell has done it again at a very breezy Pwllheli last Friday to Sunday. Al loves a bit of wind, I should know, I shared 3 nights in the back of the Transit with him ( pong! ) 18 -20 knots seemed to do the trick on friday and the jelly baby lookalike was leading after 2 races. Saturday was canned after gusts of 38knots roared in from the Irish Sea. After a 4th in the first race on Sunday, Alan slipped to 2nd overall in 10 knots of breeze and had it all to do in the final two races. With the breeze building all the time, Al pulled it out of the bag with a couple of bullets to beat John Greenwood in big seas and 18knots. Alan has had a great year so far and is off to show his feminine side by trying to win the Phantom Nationals at Lyme Regis this weekend. Well done mate.

Hello everybody
Fancy swaping your wetsuit/trapeze harness for some oars and exercise?
BYC are planning their first 14 mile rowing race around Canvey Island on Sat 3rd Sept, start at 2:15pm.
Please click on the link for full details.
I would like to get at least get a couple of crews/boats (i’m up for the exercise) for some friendly interclub rivalery.
Entry fee is £3 per person.
If anyone has knowledge of or owns a suitable rowing/skulling machine (preferably not from the gym nor 240v!) or fancies taking part, please drop me a line.
If the link does not work, go on the BYC website for all the info.
Thanks, simon

Due to circumstances beyond the club’s control we have had to cancel this event.
Sorry for any disappointment this may cause.
Instead we will run an August Bank Holiday Mini series over the three days on a similar format as the normal Pico series so we can all spend plenty of race time on the water having loads of fun as always.
Now what we do need is a sponsor, so if anyone has any suggestions as to offering a cup of some sort then do please let Mike Thomason know and we can make this an annual event.
Laser Centre have been asked to let us know about some special deals on race sails, kickers and toestraps and details to follow once received.
