Guard Boat Duty Swop

Published by under Duties,Racing

I am at a conference on May 12th so unable to skipper SS3. Happy to take on a Saturday Race Officer duty not including June 26th – July 10th instead. Alternatively, if you are looking to swop because you are unsure about being RO, if you take my guard boat duty I would be happy to coach you as RO!

Thank You

Published by under Racing,World's

I would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has followed and supported me throughout my sailing. Being in Australia and knowing you have the backing of everyone from your home club is brilliant. I’m sure most clubs dont follow members like we do at Thorpe Bay, and this is what makes us different to others. Thanks also to everyone who came down to the club last Thursday for the Champagne reception.

** Frozen Sheets – Sunday 09th January 2011**

Published by under Racing

A handicap fleet of 51 starters enjoyed fantastic blue skies & a cool South-Westerley breeze to compete in this years Thorpe Bay Yacht Club Frozen Sheets Race.

Race Officer Phil Crawford & his team set a triangular course with the competitors enjoying a beat towards the Pierhead from the busy mass start line in front of the clubhouse.

The race lasted just under two hours for the majority of the 49 finishers in the pleasant winter sunshine just prior to a spectacular sunset.

The top five final revised result positions were:

1st Gareth Davies – International Moth
2nd Kyle Stoneham – F18
3rd Steve Hopper & Paul Dell – 49er
4th David Hall & Paul Constable – Fireball
5th John Charles – RS600

Thanks to the Race Officers Team Phil Crawford, Margret Kennedy & Sally Ellingford, the support boat crews including Ivor Thompson in Pearl.

Thank you to the results team working hard under pressure inputting all the data Tony Padbury & Jeremy Sandford.

A full race results listing can be found under General Handicap header within the Sailing Results Tab on the L/H/S of the homepage.

Plus a big thank you on behalf of all the competitors & spectators to Sue Boygle / Sam Husk who provided hot liquid refreshments & mince pies from the Bosun’s Hut.

Thanks to Charles & Sophie Boygle who were of great assistance organising the prizes.
