TBYC Cadets 5 Eton 0
The boys and girls in the RS Feva fleet exceeded expectations by beating Eton College 5 – 0 in a Team Race at Bray Lake near Windsor on Saturday. In bright sunshine and with 10 to 13 mph winds, they practised their Team racing skill’s in the school’s Fireflies during the morning, ready to race the Eton boys after lunch. On this occasion, we were slightly older than the opposition and this lifted the team’s confidence. The starts were tight, with everyone on the line in a rising wind. By the first mark we managed a leading combination in most races, however this needed to be maintained on the forthcoming reaches and run. TBYC were not going to be beating at this stage and with some cunning Team Racing moves, succeeded to win the match. A great day was had by all and was concluded with afternoon tea and a thank-you speech made by Sam L. Well done to the Squad!

Brilliant! Great to see such a great group of sailors. And a brilliant coach.
Well done to the Squad and especially well done to Nick Alston for the coaching session and setting up the events – believe me, these things don’t happen without a load of behind the scenes work!
The result at Eton was particularly impressive as there is a world of difference between throwing a Firefly around a small shifty lake and a round the cans race in the wide estuary at TBYC.
