Cruising Section news, events and committee meetings
Hello TBYC cruisers,
A quick round-up:
Welcome to Mike Pearmain
We are delighted to welcome Mike to the Club and the Cruising Section. Mike sails Sea Wicca, a 19’ bilge keel Sea Wych (this doubles the size of TBYC’s Sea Wych class!). He’ll be mooring her here from May.
Cruising Social functions for the next four weeks
Tuesday, 12 February: Noggin & Natter, 8:30 pm, Bar
Tuesday, 19 February: RNLI First Aid at Sea, 8:30 pm, Commodore’s Bar (TBC)
Tuesday, 26 February: Noggin & Natter, 8:30 pm, Bar
Tuesday, 5 March: Section Committee meeting 7pm Commodore’s Bar
Noggin & Natter, 8:30 pm, Bar
Not forgetting “The Engagement”, a farce from The Thorpe Bay Rotary Players on 15th March 2013, written by our very own Cruising Social Secretary, Gaynor. I’m sure she’d be delighted to sell you tickets… make up a party…
Current Cruising Section Committee activities
Our focus for the next few weeks is on:
- Organising moorings and the Root Dig – Do you need your root dug or lifted? We need to know asap.
- Getting Polly ready for the season – engine servicing, rewiring, some refurbishment
- Finalising the 2013 cruiser rally plan – Vic and Derek.
- Online survey of section members, for your views, priorities and feedback
- Improving cruising information on the website
The Cruising Section Introduction and Cruising Dates pages have now been updated – feedback, info, ideas, cruising links etc. invited- please send to me (Bill).
We’ll be discussing these at noggin and natters, please stick your oar in!
Stories, articles, videos, photos please…
Thanks to all who sent in photos – a great start. You’ll see some on the new Introduction page. We need more photos of boats, rallies – everything connected with TBYC cruising.
Short videos would be really good, and to reflect Section activities in News Buoy and on the website we need stories and articles in March (for May’s issue). So come on you budding directors and authors!
Section email list
The section email list is available for use for internal ads (crew, gear, help etc.), discussions etc. We’ll look at making it easier to use the master (Google Mail) address list; for know just copy addresses from Derek’s emails. (If you don’t want to receive such emails, let me know and we’ll sort it.)
For members without email (… there are still a few … ) we’ll be posting these updates on the Section notice-board.
Committee Meetings and minutes
Committee meetings and minutes are open to all Section members. Do drop in – you would be very welcome.
We meet at 7pm, first Tuesday of the month, Commodore’s bar before the Noggin and Natter. The draft agenda is below. Minutes are available/circulated when finalised.
Too much information?
We want to keep you informed but not swamp you with too many emails. Feedback to me welcomed.
Warm regards
Bill Dashfield (Cruising Section Secretary)
