Thanks to David, Toby, Steve, nick, Paul, Rupert, chaz, Peter and Len from the sandhopper fleet for fitting the new fenders to the slipway which I’m sure will be appreciated by all..
Also thank you to sam husk who was scrubbing the slipway from very early till late with the aid of a small team who very kindly turned up to help. If you missed the opportunity to help you could always buy sam a beer next time you see her in the club.

The ladies showers are almost finished, we have doubled the size of the changing room, installed 5 new powerful showers which are running off the supply from the cascading boiler system, within the next few weeks we will have cubicles in the showers for additional privacy, the toilets have been painted, new chrome paper holders, soap dispensers etc are in and we will be adding new hairdryers.
All the work has been carried out with minimal disruption with the help of a few members and some professional trades. Many thanks to Sam Husk, Alex Hadley, Isabel Duce, Peter Thompson, Nick Elmore, Toby Speller, Paul Spratt and Ian Bradley for giving up there time to help.
Thanks also to the various trades for their work…MHS Radiators and boilers, Mike whistler building work and John Woods Taylor plumbers.
I hope you enjoy the improvements and that the increased capacity creates an even better atmosphere for the increasing number of female sailors that TBYC is lucky to have.

Calling all Members
I would really appreciate your help cleaning the slipway this saturday morning(17th July) start time is 9.30am.
The more helpers the quicker it can get finished well before sailing at 3.00 and the less my back will hurt if i’m the only one 😉
We’ve hired a pressure washer and will have some scrappers and brushes but if you have a broom/brush please do bring it with you.
Please do come if your free and able, i know its hard work but the more of us there the easier it will be.
A BIG BIG THANK YOU in advance for all of you that come and help.

Thorpe Bay Yacht Club succeeds again….. in holding another great open meeting. This time for a new fleet not seen at TBYC – the Larks and an old fleet resurrected with the Cadets.
21 Larks and 14 Cadets took part in the 6 race series open, superbly run by Alan Willis and his team: Sally, Linda, Lisa, Bev and Alix. We had superb weather and a great breeze which made for some fantastic close racing. I think all who saw them sailing, were very impressed with the Lark.
The Cadet event was won by Max and Francesca Ingall with an impressive (near) clean sweep! We wish them luck in Poland where they will be representing GBR in the World Team!
The Lark event was won by Steve Hall and Si Haigton from Northampton Sailing Club with 11 points.
I have to own up to forgetting to thank 2 other people who helped out at the weekend. Steve Hopper was out with his rib both days to help with rescue cover and was able to take some great photos of the sailing – thanks Steve. But also to Chris Boshier – who not only gave up his weekend’s sailing to sit on the beech as our “Beech-master” but worked with myself and Alan to prepare all the relevant paperwork for the event and entering the results – Thanks very much Chris!
