Sandhopper Nationals

So far we have 22 Sandhoppers from TBYC going to the Nationals on the 31st may, with the other boats from MBSC and a few more from us we could get 30.

Sandstar (Thompson/hopper) has been dominating the number one spot in the first few races this year with the rest of us fighting for the other positions, Sunday saw 11 of us start in mixed conditions, mike and Shaun had their maiden voyage in 153

DUTY SWAP PLEASE !!!

Hi All,

I require a Duty Swap (Helm SS2) for Saturday 10th May Spring Sat 7 due to the fact that I will be in Phwelli for the Contender Nationals with Chris Boshier. (I’m not sailing). Would be greatful for a swap for any of the following dates.

April – Sat 19, Sat 26. May – Wed 28, Thurs 29. June – Wed 11, Thurs 12, Sat 21, Fri 27, Sat 28.

July – Thur 10, Fri 11, Sat 19, Sat 26. Aug – Mon 11. Sept – Sat 6. Oct – Sat 4, Sat 11, Sat 25.

Nov Sat 1, Sat 15, Sat 29. Dec – Sat 13.

All other dates I am sailing somewhere.

Rescue Duty Swap

I need to swap two duties:
Sat 19th April – due to sudden work commitments
Sun 4th May – for both George and myself (SS3) due to the Cadet Indicators at Datchet. Preferably swap with a couple or helm and crew.

Saturdays are difficult mdue to work. If anyone would like to swap for later in the year, Sept/Oct the Cadet circuit will have finished.

St Georges Day Evening Meal

To celebrate St Georges Day the Cruising Section are hosting a Bangers and Mash evening at 8pm on Tuesday 22nd April. All TBYC members are welcome.

To book please put your name on the list behind the bar. The cost is £5.50 for Bangers and Mash and £7 if you would also like an ice cream dessert.

Roy Shipton

Roy Shipton died suddenly at home on Saturday 29 March. He will be sadly missed by his brother Brian, sister-in-law Barbara and his many friends. Roy was for many years Secretary at TBYC as well as Interclub and a very active member of the Cruising Section.

The funeral will be at Southend Crematorium on Monday 28 April at 3.20 and afterwards at TBYC. No flowers but donations to Thorpe Bay Yacht Club slipway fund or Fairhavens.

TBYC Cadets at RYA Championships in Pwllheli

Natalya Eyre and Laura Sanders finished a creditable 25th in the 29er fleet, a pretty good showing considering the time they have spent in the boat.

Oliver Herve crewing for Joshua Pistol finished an incredible 12th in the 420’s.

Well done to all the cadets representing our club.

The Italian Job

ItalianOn Friday 4th April, we will have the third night in the Friday Themed series:

‘The Italian Job’

There will be two sitting times – 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
