Well done Kyle. It was great to see you picking up so many trophies. Kyle is a genuine role model for our cadets and any other aspiring champion.

Martyn Ellis was seventh out of sixty. The other five that flew the Thorpe Bay YC burgee were Gerald and Gary Sverdloff, Keith Persin, Daren Fitchew and Andrew Hannah. Less said about our results, the better! But we had a good holiday.

    I AM SOOO PROUD!
Look at the race results here http://www.sprint15.com/events/EMS/event.php?id=49

There was a practice race beforehand & he came 1st.
During race 6 kyle”s main sheet came apart & he could not sheet in fully or release properly. Thats why he was 5th in that race & decided it was not worth attempting the final race. He had already won the championship anyway but nevertheless was dissapointed not to finish with an almost perfect score card.
Many of you will have seen him out there alone after work in recent weeks taking every opportunity to get on the water no matter what the weather to perfect his skills . Thats dedication for you and when combined with a huge natural ability the outcome was not surprising and well deserved.
I would sincerely like to give a very big thanks to all the other Sprinters who made the long journey to Cornwall & competed on behalf of the club. Martin Ellis also did us proud with 7th place (joint 6th really) but no matter what the results were for the others, you did what matters most & got out there and did it! Well done guys.

Well done Kyle. The Dart/Sprint 15 fleet is the biggest cat class in the UK. Blinding result with a race to spare. An inspiration to us all.

Good luck with the Tornado Nationals next weekend.

I did post congrats on this site yesterday but as yet the sensors have not approved it !

Dart 15 (old name for Sprint 15) for sale on e-bay, ref 250486709760. Located near SE London/Kent.

Buy it and race against the national champion!

It’s also worth pointing out that Kyle’s boat is older than he is!

I was talking to Kyle before the nationals and he was sayiong that he could do with a new mainsail to compete in the nationals. I said to him then how amzing it would be if he won it anyway, to which he repied that would be a mean feat.
A mean feat indeed, well done Kyle we are all proud of you.

well… the boy did good eh!

thanks everyone, i am very grateful for all the positive comments and support from TBYC. We are lucky to have some of the best waters to sail & practise in around the UK & a thriving racing scene which I’m sure helps a lot when we travel to other places to compete.

thanks also to Martin Ellis for driving there and back, we had a thorpe bay 1 2 in the practise race which was a good start to the event!

I must thank to my Dad for taking me out as a kid, he is solely responsible for getting me into the sport and I know my life would be very different if I spent it all on dry land.

Lastly but not leastly, cheers Nick! What an advantage I have been given sailing with someone of such experience Nick Elmore was my short cut to the front and gave me the desire to win.

p.s as Steve pointed out above my main sail isn’t the best… if anyone wants to see how fast a Sprint 15 can actually go, a new main is around £500

Well done Kyle, your results go to show what a focussed mind and on the water practice can achieve.
